The parent¡¯s level of Children¡¯s right consciousness and Receptive attitude according to their children¡¯s participation in inclusive education : correlation study

Abstract
Objective : This study aimed to compare parents who send their non-disabled children to inclusive and general education on their level of Children¡¯s right consciousness and receptive attitude for disability. Another purpose was to analyze the correlation between the level of Children¡¯s right consciousness and Receptive attitude for disability in both parents participating in inclusive and general education.

Methods : Participants were parents with non-disabled children receiving inclusive or general education, questionnaires were spread out from April 26th to June 1st, 2016, and 138 questionnaires from 9 different daycare centers were analyzed. The questionnaire was composed of items regarding Children¡¯s right consciousness and Receptive attitude. The independent samples T-test and correlation analysis of Children¡¯sright consciousness and Receptive attitude for disability. were analyzed with SPSS.

Results : The Children¡¯s right consciousness and Receptive attitude toward disability of parents who sent their children to integrated and general education did not show signficant difference. Negative correlation was found in the sub items of each variable. Significant correlation were present between some of the items.

Conclusions : This study investigated and analyzed the correlation of the level of Children¡¯s right consciousness and Receptive attitude for disability in parents with non-disabled children sending their children to inclusive or general education. Realistic and systematic education related to children with disability is needed to parents sending their children to general education.
